In class we just finished Maniac Magee and I think the theme is journey because when Maniac was younger he left his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan because they never talked so that is where the journey began. Next he ran everywhere and met Amanda Beale and borrowed a book and promised he would give it back. He lived at the zoo for quiote a while and one day he went to the little leauge baseball and met John McNabb. That is how Maniac become legendary. Another reason why I think thee theme is joureny because he lived with Amanda’s family but then left and started a new joureny. THen jourenys usually end going back home and that is actally what maniac did he went back to the Beale’s home. So that is why I think the theme is Journey.
In class we are reading Maniac Magee and the part that affected me the most was when Maniac was going to leave the Beale’s and Amanda Beale told him he can’t and she got emotional and that really affected me because they were good friends and it was sad that Maniac was just going to leave her and her family. They had good times and her family wanted to help him because he didn’t have a family, well besides his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. Another thing that affected me is when Maniac was getting bullied by Mars Bar Thompson, the Ragpicker, The Cobras, and McNabb. It affected me because I hate when people bully other people because it is mean. The good thing about it is that Maniac doesn’t get affected by it and he doesn’t care.
In class we are all reading a book called “Maniac Magee” Jeffery is the main character but people call him maniac. He is an orphan and he lived with his Aunt and Uncle but they never got along they didn’t even share anything, so one day Jeffery left Bridgeport and wondered every where. At first he slept at the zoo in the deer shed but then one day when he was running he met a girl named Amanda she had a suitcase full of books and Jeffery asked for a book so she talked to him for a little and her and Jeffery had a conservation so then she threw him a book but said he had to return it so he said he would then she ran off. Later on Jeffery is getting bullied by a kid named Mars Bars so then Amanda saw him so then she went over there and told them to leave him alone. So then Jeffery went with Amanda back to her house had dinner then when Mr.Beale took Jeffery home he would ask and Jeffery said over there but Mr.Beale knew that he was lieing so Jeffery finally told him and Jeffery lived with the Beale’s. People keep bullying him and Jeffery leaves the Beale’s but Amanda doesn’t want him to so they fight and Jeffery left. That is what happens in part one.
I would love to come on your trip I also like animals and orangutans. You must be so patient to stare at the animals for hours and hours, I might get a little bored but I’m sure I will have lots of fun. What are you sleeping in I might need to book a hotel if they have one I’m not fond of animal noises it doesn’t help me sleep? I can’t wait to visit you in Borneo
My class is learning about the Revolutionary War in social studies so my teacher likes to link all our learning together so she asigned us with a book and a group. We are reading “Daniel at the Siege of Boston”.
I’m going to talk about who are the most impacted characters in the book so far. The most impacted character is Daniel because he helps the colonist a lot, by spying and getting infomation for the army. Daniel’s father was another impacted character because he went into war and he helped out the army knowing the redcoats plan and secrets when they came into his house.
In the book Running out of Time Hannah has done the most courageous thing ever. She tripped Mr.Seward when he was threatening to kill the kids in the schoolhouse. Then Chester took the gun and pointed him to the cops.
Today on Blood on the River the strangest thing happened John Smith burned his leg. So it happened when Smith was sleeping so he left on his powder bag then smoke or musket smoke touch the powder and it exploded and burned his leg. So I am wondering was it done on purpose or an accident?
I think it was on accident because they have muskets everywhere and they have fires still burning and the smoke can get everywhere. But if the Natives purposely did it I could see that because they might be mad for chief Powhatan being crowned but I think it is still a accident.
Today we just finished reading chapter 21 and it was sad Reverend Hunt died and he was really helpful and smart. In the book he has helped Samuel along the way and taught him really important lessons so I am going to tell you the most important lesson.
The most important lesson that Reverend Hunt taught Samuel is try to work together with other people and that is important because it will help you along the way so it will be easier.
We are reading Blood on the River and we just finished chapter 17. The biggest thing happened a fire started, they left the fire burning and there was a bible and a shirt so I think that is what caught on fire.
My reaction to the fire was “wow” how could this have happened all the work they did to start the settlement and with the Natives attacking. But they worked really hard to put out the fire they literally got in a line from the river to their camp. All their work is gone food, little of the palisade, and homes. So that was my reaction to the fire.
In Blood on the River, Captain John Smith wants Samuel to learn the Native language and says it is more powerful then any weapon.
I think he wants Samuel to learn it if Captain John Smith passes then Samuel will know the language and everybody won’t know it and so then they will value Samuel and he will be important. Another reason I think John Smith wants Samuel to learn it because if they go into war then Samuel can commicuate with them and tell them that it is the wrong thing to do.
