As a photographer, when you are taking a picture you are using math when you have to do a certain angle. You also use math in photography for the shutter speed for how much light goes into the picture or pictures you take.

# Do Architects use Math?

http://weusemath.org/?career=architect

1. Architects have to use College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I and II, Probability and Statistics, Linear Programming for their jobs.

2. Mathematics is used by architects to express the design images on a drawing that can then be used by construction workers to build that image for everyone to see. Mathematics is needed to analyze and calculate structural problems in order to engineer a solution that will assure that a structure will remain standing and stable.

3. The sizes and shapes of the elements of a design are possible to describe because of mathematical principles such as the Pythagorean Theorem.

# Performing Arts using Math?

Performing Arts using math is absolutely possible. Managing your life after high school involves lots of planning with numbers. With the Arts math comes in all the time. With dancing it comes with doing the beats to the music you are dancing too. Some of the dance moves you are doing involves the movement of a circle and following the corners of the squares as well as the walls. Acting comes with math as well. When learning a script for a role it is important to know when to go on stage whether its a certain time or not you use numbers. Lastly of course is music. Music has a lot of math inside. When forming the song it has a beat to stay on track and not collide words with tone in the back round.

This clip is showing the arts all together. How is it possible without math involved. This school shows everything put together in a balancing act of one. This video helped me see all the possible things.

# How Do Waitresses Use CA$H In There Job!?

There are many ways waitresses use math in their everyday job, and money is a big subject. One example of them using math in their everyday job is when they make the bill from the people eating. That requires adding and subtracting.

Another way a waitress uses money in her everyday job is when she makes tips. Waitresses get a lot of their pay check from tips. They have to count their tips to see how much they got. They also get money from their pay check. Waitresses have to work a certain amount of hours to get the amount of money they want from their job.

# Beauty is Math

All three of these are basically saying the same thing about how much they get paid and that they need to know how much to cut and measure the length and the chemicals that you put in the hair or what to mix when it comes to makeup. It also talks about how to make sure you have the right amount of chemicals so you don’t give the paitent hair loss or something like that. Is there anything else that Beauty deals with in Math that I don’t know, that I should know about because I would really like to become a cosmetologist.

# Algebra In Special Education Teaching

Today I talk to a special education teacher about how Algebra relates in his job. He said he teaches two classes one for a degree and one to help out in the world. For the one that gives you a degree he basically teaches the Algebra that we learn and prepares them for the ECA which they need to pass in order to pass the class. The one that helps prepare them for the real world teaches them how to fill out a check book how to give the right amount at a grocery store and how to make sure the right change back.

# Using Math in Pediatrics

The Metric system- most calculations in medicine are done using the metric system. So Pediatricians need to know how to easily convert measurements, especially between pounds and kilograms.

Medicine Dosages- The average Pediatrician writes many prescriptions each day. These prescriptions include medicines ranging from antibiotics and cough and cold medicines to drugs to treat asthma and allergies. Most Dosages are determined by a child’s weight. So when a Pediatrician writes a prescription for amoxicillin for a child’s ear infection, she has to first consider the child’s weight and the medication’s dosage.

IV fluids- Pediatricians also use math to calculate a child’s rate of intraveneous fluids.

Body Mass Index- Pediatricians use math to calculate a child’s Body mass Index which determines if the child is overweight, underweight, or at a healthy weight.

Other-

- A Pediatrician who does research often must use statistics when presenting their findings.
- A Pediatric Cardiologist might use math formulas to figure out how well a child’s heart is working.
- A Pediatric Nephrologist (kidney specialist) will often use math to see if a child’s kidneys are functioning properly.

# officer

They say you don’t really need math to become a police officer. But if math is involved it would be a pay check, or even when you have a gun you might need the right calculations to shoot your gun.

# Using math in nursing

When I graduate High School my plan is to get into Nursing School. I also plan to graduate Nursing School and go into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). To get into Nursing School you have to have general education in math, biology, and anatomy and physiology. These are just a few of the requirements. One of the reasons you need math in the Nursing Field is because you have to give the proper medications to the patient. The main math topics you need to know are adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. I will use these topics to get into Nursing School, it is my goal.
